Hello from Louisiana!
« on: October 27, 2013, 10:06:50 AM »
Hello everyone, I am Marlin Thompson, I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and say hello to my fellow Thomp(s)on's.  I'm new to the site and have just started tracing my family name.

I was wondering if any of you shared some of my common ancestors or not, I havent verified my line 100% as of yet, but this is what I was able to come up with.

I am not sure what the best way to list the line is on here so ill just post the names in reverse order starting with myself.

Marlin Thompson
Wayland E. Thompson (my dad)
Troy Thompson           1904-1983
John W. Thompson      1863-1954
Robert W. Thompson   1824-1876
Robert E. Thompson    1798-1879
Waddy Thompson       1761-1837
David Thompson         1690-1769
Robert R. Thomson    1661-1702
Robert Thompson        1615-
Ralph Thompson         1560-1620
Maurice Thompson      1530-1560
Robert Thompson - End of line

There is another leg of thompson's in my line that ties to some of the names that I have seen listed on family tree DNA

It seems that Robert R Thomson 1661-1702 married Judith Thompson 1666-1709 had a son named David Thompson 1690-1769 (for some reason David took his mother's spelling of the name) not sure if his father's name was a typo or what.

Judith Thompson decend's from John I Thompson 1636-1710 and here's the line after

John I Thompson 1636-1710
William Thompson 1616-1701
Sir Roger Thompson 1595-1715
Richard Thompson 1580-1650
William Thompson 1554-1635
Richard Thompson 1528-
Henry Thompson 1500-1529
John Thompson 1475-
I have done so much with so little for so long, I can now do almost anything with nothing!

Hello Marlin and welcome.
Looks like you have a great start on your family line.
I only have mine traced back to the 1600's in the Lanark
and Edinburgh area.
Hope to have my DNA done this coming spring or summer.
Again, welcome!
Best wishes,

Tom & Barbara ( Indiana )

Hi Marlin! Glad to see you got on here finally. Wow you sure do have a lot of info! You're lucky. I don't think most people know that much about their family tree. Not sure if you've had time to go thru all the things that are already posted on here but there are a lot of links and resources from other members that may shine more light on what you already have. Good luck and we look forward to reading all the info you find and how it pertains to your family.

Glad you're here!

Thanks for the warm welcome,  I have really enjoyed trying to figure everything out, I never really knew much about anyone past my great grandfather.  It's neat following the movement through the generations and thinking of how my ancestors may have influenced the world we know today.
