Wasn't sure if I should start a new thread of reply to this one. Here are my results converted for FTDNA/Ysearch with the original numbers after for clarity. Ancestry.com/Sorenson Genomics pulls different panels than FTDNA as well so some of my results are from FTDNA's 67 marker test, while others will be missing  ::)

Here's me in text form. These are the values I have at Ysearch. My values from Ancestry.com are different so these are the converted values.

DYS 393 = 13
390 = 25
19/394 = 14
391 = 11
385a = 11
385b = 11
426 = 12
388 = 12
439 = 12
389I = 13
392 = 13
389II = 30
458 = 17
459a = 9
459b = 10
455 = 11
454 = 11
447 = 24
437 = 15
448 = 19
449 = 29
464a = 15
464b = 15
464c = 17
464d = 17
460 = 11
GATA H4 = 10
YCAIIa = 19
YCAIIb = 22
456 = 16
442 = 12
438 = 12
444 = 12
446 = 13
461 = 12
462 = 11
GATA A10 = 12
635 = 23
GAAT1B07 = 10
441 = 13
445 = 12
452 = 31
463 = 23

If anyone else was suckered into Ancestry.com, here's how my actual results from Ancestry.com (Sorenson Genomics) differ from the ysearch conversion:

DYS441 = 14
442 = 17
458 = 16.2
GATA-A10 = 14
Y-GATA-H4 = 11

Last year, Ancestry.com had a special on DNA testing so I took advantage of it and had my DNA analyzed.  Below are my results.  I'm hoping that any others who have DNA results will post them here.

Again, my testing was done by Ancestry.com. Other testing companies use different standards to determine the marker values. The Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation has a comparison chart for adjusting the various values between different companies at: www.smgf.org/ychromosomr/marker_standards.jspx

Hi Booner, It looks like Sorenson moved that page for comparisons of different companys: http://www.smgf.org/ychromosome/marker_standards.jspx

I also noticed that the Sorenson page says Ancestry matches them..which is true if you tested in June with me but before that I think Ancestry was using DNA Heritage for testing so the rules for conversion are a bit different:

Quote
Relative Genetics (RG), DNA Heritage and Ancestry

DYS 441: subtract 1 from the value received from the other lab and enter the result into Ysearch

DYS 442: subtract 5 from the value received from the other lab and enter the result into Ysearch

DYS 454 and DYS 455: Please add 1 to your values only if your values were reported prior to March 2003, i.e., if you had a score of 9 for DYS 454, make it 10. Same thing for DYS 455.

DYS 461: Please add 1 to your value only if your value was reported prior to May 7, 2004.

GATA-H4 is reported by Relative Genetics as TAGA-H4. Please subtract 1 from your value.

GATA-H4 reported by DNAH and Ancestry: subtract 11 from the value received from the other lab and enter the result into Ysearch

Y-GATA-A10: subtract 2 from the value received from the other lab and enter the result into Ysearch

I realized it when I saw that your GATA H4 value was 22...11 higher than mine even though we used the same company. Too bad the company we used uses different companies!

ok-- i think i have made some sense of toms post and ho it relates to my DNA

heres the locations where we match; if i'm doing this right we have 32 location matches and of those, we match 30 sequences. where we differ, i've put toms sequence in ( ).  you'll note 2 things,: 1, where we differ, it's only by a factor of 1, and 2. DYS 442 in Ancestory.com is off by  a factor of 5 by Family tree, so on that Location (allele), we actually match. Question? Is any else having problems in registering on the Sorensen site?  For some reason they say my log in is no longer valid.
 I also notice that the World Families has not been updated since 2007.
 Yesterday I got a notice from Family Tree that I had a 67 match. However, I could not find it (they did have two new 12/12 matches). They also said that the Thompson surname would have some changes soon and they recommended that   I down load all of my matches as they would no-longer be posted.
I was so frustrated that I didn't study just how they were going to upgrade their data.
Suggest everyone check on their match posting table

I have noticed that I couldn't get the results for the Thompson Surname from FTDNA anymore. I also couldn't get them for any of the other surnames I tried. They were posted in the past as I used them for comparison.

Along with the STRs that people could match. I should post that I've recently gotten my SNP testing done and I am R1b-U106 or R1b1a2a1a1a* (at FTDNA) which means I'm somewhere further down than U106 but their not sure where.

OK, so I finally sprung for my DNA test. I thought there was a database where we could upload our results and compare with other Thom(p)sons, but I don't see the link here where I expected it. My results are a really big text file, much bigger than the ones posted here, so I'm not sure what to do.

Hi Michael -

I'm not sure what you mean by a big text file.....Actually, there are several Thompson projects..........some are discontinued but still have data available. When you have your Family Tree DNA and kit #, you can go to ysearch.org
Set up an account so you can make it easier to see those who might have some matches with you....or, you can just SEARCH BY LAST NAME,  THOMPSON, go through the spam validation, then click the number you see under "Pedigree."     Additionally, you can search for a possible match by doing the SEARCH BY HAPLOGROUP and selecting your haplogroup. If you see entries under Pedigree, you will be able to open an ancestry tree.  You can click on the users under User ID and see their entire Haplogroup.  If you register with ysearch, they will notify you of possible matches that come in :)

Thompson projects:  The Family Tree DNA project is here   https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/thompson/dna-results
Click on the entries under Y-DNA for various views.

You might want to scroll through some of the sites here just for fun too...... http://www.genealogytoday.com/surname/finder.mv?Surname=THOMPSON

You can probably find others by doing an internet search.
