Title: Met a new Thompson!
Post by: uneven on April 02, 2011, 10:30:41 PM
Wanted to crow a little bit. I'm excited because another leaf of my Thompson family tree contacted me through Ancestry.com (this time.  The last one came from the Thompson genealogy forum). They are on the same branch as my other new contact but a different twig.

So they run like this Kevin -> Harold -> Francis -> Albert -> Levi Thompson 1834.

Here is my last contact: Richard -> Richard -> Francis -> Albert -> Levi

Here is me: (mike) -> Thomas -> Charles -> Ray -> Albert -> Levi.

They wanted to notify me of a bad death date. One good thing about my poor record keeping. Hopefully I didn't scare them off.

It's wonderful when things start to fall into place !!   :D

I've been working on my Thompson line for 45 years and
don't have anything to crow about yet...   :'(

Thanks for posting your new info!

Thanks Donna. I've been extremely lucky to run into someone, let alone two people! Right now, all I have is that initial contact. Hopefully we can compare notes.

I been able to talk to a 4th cousin from Tenn. who had seen a brief history I posted on the forum a while back.
He gave me a name of a second cousin, but I haven't talk to her yet.
Glad to hear you found some more kinfolk.

Thanks Tom. It's been real exciting. Without the internet, I'd still be in the dark.

It sounds like my second contact with my Thompsons isn't any further along than me, but with more eyes on the problem a solution may present itself.

On a related note:
This week is free Civil War records week at Ancestry.com and I've been able to find a few nice records I missed in the past. Military records have been my best resources for tracking slippery Thompsons.
