Title: Blaeu Maps
Post by: Mary on April 13, 2008, 07:09:04 AM
These are old maps of Scotland from 1654. Another member of the forum sent them to me, so I am posting them in her stead! The Blaeu atlas contains 49 engraved maps and 154 numbered pages of descriptive texts, translated from Latin into English.     http://www.nls.uk/maps/early/blaeu/index.html

Sorry Mary, didn't know if I could post that site or not.   :-\

Thanks for the site, Mary.  Have enjoyed the old maps and other information.
It really takes me to William Caishe and his area of Scotland.

Never too old to learn more!

Barbara - I saw your comment to Mary. Copyright doesn't include posting the URL of a site and it's general contents. So if you find a goodie, post the URL and the basic subject/content so people can decide if they are interested in visiting it.

If you want examples of what NOT to do - notice the over 90% of the content on the Clan MacTavish USA site was illegally lifted from the old DHA site and THEN copyrighted as work done by CM USA. THAT's copyright infringement beyond the normal scope.

Most sites promote their URLs to search engines so they are found by the public, so posting an interesting URL just helps their efforts.
