Happy Thanksgiving!
« on: November 26, 2008, 06:33:02 AM »
Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I'm heading North a little later today to share the holiday with my daughter and her family so I'll be off the board for a few days. Have a happy and safe holiday (especially if you're travelling) and I'll see you on the other side. And don't eat too much turkey or pie or whatever! Yeah sure! OK...

Happy Thanksgiving to all!  We're not going anywhere - but are waiting for Ted and Pam Herring (members and cousins) who are driving down from Carmel, IN. to spend the holiday and weekend with us.  We've double-checked that we have the bar and fridge stocked! We're not driving tomorrow, so we can eat, drink and be merry!  We wish you all the same.........

Donna.......that IS the son you said had too much English in him????   I hope you are cooking outdoors (and not a turkey fryer!)......... :D

I also miss some of our group, but it's a busy time of year - especially for those with kids/family to organize....

But families are like that!

Mary,
You know those times when we call our children by their first & middle names...when the world, as they know it, is about to end...that's the time my son has too much English in him.
For the remainder of the time, he's 50% Scot and 50% Irish...(such a good boy)

Truth be told, my son is a wonderful cook!  He grows some of his own veggies and nothing will come from a can.  He even makes his own bread dough for pizza!

Gee....is he available for rent???  Ahhhhhh.......the two name "you're in trouble" routine. Actually, when my mom was miffed with me, she called me Maria Josephina.  Not my name, but I sure knew I was in trouble when she used THAT one!  Fond memories now...

I think I need a nap. Ted and Pam, Tom and I just finished dinner.......Pam's on her laptop, I'm on mine, Tom is snoozing in his armchair and Ted is playing with the dog. Peace reigns......nap........snzzzzzzz

Hello Graham (and welcome back Arlin),

I have a first grader, so he is a Tiger Cub and I am an Assistant Den Leader right now.  I was a Scout and was an Assistant Scout Master when I was in college.  I can see sticking with it again for a while and being a Den Leader and Assistant Scout Master as he progresses.  Gives us another excuse to hang out more.  Not a big deal now, he is seven and we do a lot together, but once he hits his teens or so I know I won't be the center of his world.

Were you a Scout?

Ya I was. But in Canada we do our a bit differently then in the states. We have beavers, cubs, scouts, ventures, rovers, then leaders if you want to do that. I did 1 years of beavers, 2 years of cubs, 4 years of scouts, 3 years of ventures and I was a leader for 2 years. So i did my share. I hope when i have a son or daughter one day that they will want to join.

Hello all,  I'm back on the forum!  Had out of state guests and after they left I was exhausted and had lots and lots of emails to catch up on.  Finally caught up so maybe I can get back to normal.  Wait....I forgot Christmas shopping... ::)

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  We have a lot to be thankful for.  :D

Good to see you back Arlin.  Donna, I love your sense of humor.  ;D  Mary, I know you, Tom, Pam and Ted had a good time.  Wish we could have been there with you all.  Bev, did you really brave Black Friday?  :o  Duke and Graham, I salute you for being involved with the Scouts.   :D  Stu, hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your family.   :D  Tom and Barbara hope your Thanksgiving was enjoyable with your son's visit.  :D  Dan, hope you had a great Thanksgiving with your mother in MO.  :D  If I left anyone out, and I'm sure I did, it was unintentional.
