TODDS AND STEVENSONS
« on: April 10, 2008, 09:59:03 AM »
THE TODDS SEEM TO BE DISPERSED THROUGH SCOTLAND WITH SEVERAL CLANS LAYING CLAIMS TO THEM.RIGHTLY SO, FRAGMENTS OF PEOPLES OF THAT NAME HAVE RELOCATED IN SEVERAL PLACES BRINGING THEM UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF THE LOCAL CHIEFS. BUT SUPPOSING I CAN GIVE YOU A CORE, A SUGGESTED STARTING POINT AND ITS RIGHT ALONGSIDE THE THOM(P)SONS ROOTS! IM GOING TO POST YOU DETAILS OF SOME VERY OLD GRAVES IN THE BORDERS, IT IS MY SUGGESTION THAT YOU RALLY NEXT TO YOUR HISTORICAL NEIGHBOURS THE THOMSONS AND THOMPSONS. HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THIS MAY BE YOUR ONLY TENUOUS LINK TO THE MACTAVISH?
STEVENSONS. THE LAST CHIEF OF THE MACTAVISH ALLOWED YOU TO JOIN HIS CLAN BECAUSE YOU COULD NOT FIND ATTACHMENT TO SCOTLAND EVEN THOUGH YOU HAD ROOTS THERE. AGAIN; I SAY THE SAME TO YOU...YOU PROBABLY ORIGINATE IN THE BORDERS AND SHOULD ALSO STAND WITH YOUR THOMSON NEIGHBOURS. THERES A LARGE ENCLAVE OF STEVENSONS IN THE THOMPSON GRAVEYARDS! NOT LEAST ROBERT LOUIS'S- A VERY FAMOUS STEVENSON. LINKS TO THIS AREA. COME TO YOUR TRUE LINK. IM POSTING MORE GRAVE RECORDS.

Wow!  I hadn't realized the Todds/Stevensons were from the same area as we are!  So, I guess that fact that they were associated with Thomsons made them fair game for Dugald and his clan. Makes sense if you look at it from his perspective.....grab every name and variation you can!

I know the new Clan Thompson Society would welcome all Todds and Stevensons and we could build our clan together.

Thank you for all your hard work, MACTAVISH - we do appreciate it (even if we can't get all the "lookers" to post!)

Interesting...............

When I first attempted to find my clan, Gordon had claimed TODD as a sept.

But the Earl of Huntley was such a dastardly villain, I looked for other sept associations.

Wallah.  MacTavish.  Another villain.

Thompson seems to be my home.  I will put my feet up and sip (gulp) whiskey.

WELL RICHARD,I TRULY THINK YOUR PEDIGREE BEGAN HERE.THERES A SIZABLE ENCLAVE OF TODDS WITH RECORDS AND GRAVES GOING FAR BACK......AND THERE ARE STILL TODDS LIVING  HERE TODAY; THEY CONSIDER THEMSELVES BORDERERS AND PROUD SCOTS. THEY ARE THE BEST KIND OF TODDS ;THEY RECOGNISE NO SEPTISM OR CHIEF (BUT I THINK ALLIGN THEMSELVES WITH OTHER BORDER FAMILIES)BUT ARE A SINGLE ENTITY THAT OPERATED IN THE PAST UNDER THEIR OWN THOUGHT.
