I'm trying to fill in the membership form but I'm unable to key in the first or last name. The first space that will allow an entry is birthdate. Is anyone have a problem with this or is this just another "machine" trying to push me over the edge!
Donna
-
I just tried to re-new and had the same problem Donna. So it's not Donna verses machines. ;D I know how you feel, at one point in my life it seemed me and machines just could not get along, but since I've shown them who's boss they now will cooperate.......sometimes. ::) ;D
Barbara
-
Hey Barbara,
I'm so glad it isn't just me having a problem. And, yes, I was trying to enter the information for a NEW MEMBER! My son, David, will be joining us.
Donna
-
Donna, how wonderful! Another Thompson, your son. :D
The membership page is working now, I just renewed, <<yawn>> and it's time for me to go to bed.

Hi everyone,
If you could go to your forum profile and add the state that you are in (I put Central Florida), it might help us all to get to know each other and facilitate meeting up at or communicating about regional games and festivals. It will be neat to see as we continue to grow as well. Just a thought..
Thanks,
Duke

Greetings Clan Thompson,
Man, am I glad to see you guys!
I'm a Thompson on my Mum's side. She used to say you couldn't swing a dead cat in Lynn, Indiana without hitting a Thompson. Lynn is where her people are from. I've been reading the posts and waiting patiently for the Clan Admin to approve my registration. AND AT LAST I can join in!
I've got a bit of information to share and some questions to ask. I'll try to find the right topic and start typing.
Next step is to join Clan Thompson proper and support the Fam!
Cheers,
Sherry
-
Hey Sherry,
Welcome to the Forum! We're very happy to have you! :D
Donna
-
I am pleased to announce that a forum member has made the big step and became a supporting 'Society member'.
Everyone please join me in welcoming our newest member - Sherry Anderson of NC. Most of you have already seen her posts.
Tom
-
Well, I am a new member of Clan Thompson, as of about five minutes ago.
Not really, I joined last year at Estes Park, Colorado, but I was just on the phone with Booner and we realized that we had never received anything about membership renewals. I went online and "joined" but it's a renewal.
For anyone else on here who needs to renew, or (horrors!) has never actually become a dues-paying member of the society, why not pony up today? Things are tough all over these days, and it's even harder for our society to carry on its activities without our membership dues. Go to http://www.clanthompson.org/app.html and take care of business today.
Of course, for whoever keeps the membership records, a reminder might be nice for those of us who need to renew. Hint, hint.
-
Hi Michael, thanks for renewing. Y'all just got a head of my notice.
Will make a note.
-
Welcome
Please join me in welcoming our newest member to the Clan Thompson Society. :D
Kenton Thompson of Winter Springs FL.
Tom
-
Hey Kenton,
We are so happy to have you as part of our Clan Thompson Society
family. Please feel free to jump right into the mix :D
Donna
-
Hello All
:D I have the great honor to introduce you to our new supporting members of Clan Thom(p)son Society:
George Thompson and wife Charlotte from SC.
Linwood Thompson and wife Malia from CA.
Katey Jean Thompson from MO.
Robert D. Thompson, Jr. and wife Cindy from LA
Anne Thompson from MA
The Directors voted to recognize as honorary members of Clan Thom(p)son Society. Alan Thomson of Scotland and Scott Thomson also from Scotland ( IAW our bylaws article 21) "Directors may reward individuals who are not members of the organization for their contributions to Scotland, Scottish heritage, Scottish organizations or CTI itself by making such nonmembers Honorary Members."
Please accept my apology for being tardy with this announcement. If I told you the laptop with all the neat stuff was in the shop would I be forgiven? How about the dog ate their paperwork??
Any articles for the newsletter??? ::)
Tom
-
OOh! I only found out that I have become an honourary member when I read the newsletter that I received yesterday.
Thank you very much, I'm very pleased about this.
Scott Thomson.
-
Hey Scott!
For once, a NICE surprise, huh? :D
Welcome (officially)!!!
Mary
-
Hello All
Hope all of you are having a great Sunday. The storms have bypassed us here in TN, but I am dismayed with all the deaths and destruction others have endured this weekend.
Please join with me in welcoming our new members to the society:
Phillip Micah Thompson from Oceanside CA
Fred and Babs Cash upgraded to life members.
Mary Lee McElwain of NC a new life member.
I will work on getting out their new members packages as soon as possible.
Tom
-
Congratulations Fred and Babs!
Welcome to the Clan Phillip and Mary! Hope you can both find the time to be active members.
-
Hello COUSINS
Today is a grand prelude to the tribute we are happy to give to her -- Happy Mother's Day!!
I have even more great news. We have NEW Members to Clan Thom(p)son Society.
Please join me in welcoming:
Carolyn B. Guest of NC
Danny Thompson of Norfolk, United Kingdom
Tom
-
Hello to all
More good news to report. WE HAVE ANOTHER LIFE MEMBER TO WELCOME INTO THE SOCIETY.
Please join me in welcoming Allan G. Thomson of Ayrshire, UK.
Some of you may not recognize him. Allan is a Thomson armiger who has posted so many interesting posts on the
Heraldry topic. He was also made a Clan Thom(p)son Society honorary member by the society directors.
He said he was pleased to be an honorary member, but as he agreed with the aims of the Society, he wanted to pay for a life membership. It was his hope that the money would help in our continued efforts for recognition for the clan.
Tom
-
Greetings All!!!
And we have another new member!!
Allen Neil Thompson of Ocoee, Florida
WELCOME ALLEN
Paula Womack
Membership Secretary
-
Wow! Lots of new members!
Welcome....Allan, Allen, Carolyn and Danny! Welcome to the effort!
Be sure to send your genealogy info to Cathy if you've hit a 'brick wall' in your research...... cmctavish@zimbrick.com She will also add your
information to our clan genealogy into at Rootsweb (minus the living members, of course.) Since so many of our members trace back through Ireland (Scots-Irish) and Scotland, YOUR connections could be OURs too!
It's wonderful to see that we are making more headway outside our North American borders... I know there have been discussions on other sites about the Thompson versus Thomson issue (a bogus debate.....but.....), so it's especially nice to see Thom(p)sons from the UK joining and recognizing that we are representing ALL spellings of the name and working for the benefit of all. Tell your cousins! :)
We continue to grow and it's due to efforts by all members! Welcome new members and thank you "old" ones!
-
Wow! So many new members. Welcome one and all to the reiving Thompsons! ;D
Barbara
-
Hello All
I have the pleasure to announce a new Clan Thom(p)son supporting member.
Please welcome John Thompson and wife Darla of IL.
-
Hey y'all,
Shame on me for taking so long to welcome all the new members!
My only excuse is that my senior moments are getting longer...and longer...
Well, that's all I have to say about that! :-\
Donna
-
Hello Y'all
Join with me in welcoming a new supporting member.
Raymond Thompson of MA (brother of Stu)
Tom
-
Welcome aboard, Raymond! Buckle up your seat belt ..........this is a fun ride!
We'd love to see you post some fresh questions/comments/articles/etc. There's bound to be more "stuff" out there re: Thomsons that we haven't found....or just some interesting articles or thoughts. We're eclectic....so pretty much anything is open to discussion!
Mary
-
I'm sorry to be so late with welcomes to all new members. A warm WELCOME to all! :D
Barbara
-

Donna

Hello Donna!
Good to see you online again ! I realize California seems to be headed off the cliff but I thought you might have already gone . ;D
We may grow slowly, but at least we are still growing. And our members are staying with us and upgrading to life memberships as they can. This is a good thing!
Now that you've found the forum again I expect see you hear more often ;)
Mary
-
Greetings to all the new Clan members! We're glad to have you! ;D
I've been reading the newest posts trying to catch up. WOW the DNA topic is on fire. I'm giving serious thought to going back up to Lynn Indiana and wrestling my cousin to the ground and taking a swab for the test. He is the son of a son, of a son of a son, of a son of my brick wall R.W. Thompson. Couldn't get any more direct than that eh?
Sister Sue is ready to go to the AZ Games in the spring. I can't wait to hear about it. She keeps muttering about men.....kilts.......bagpipes........kilts......... Next thing you know she'll be reiving greater Pheonix. Hmmmm might be fun at that.............. ;)
My Gaelic lessons are coming right along. Among the many phrases learned, I can order drinks in a Pub (important skill), food in a restaurant(to offset the drinks), ask about family(which I hear is the national pastime in Scotland) and make plane reservations (handy for those times when a fast get away is needed, sans cattle).
My next step is to visit the local Gaelic group that meets once a month in downtown Asheville. That will be the test of my skills for sure. It's one thing to listen and speak in the privacy of your car during the morning commute another thing entirely to make yourself understood by others. I will say though there have been mornings when I've woke thinking in Gaelic, just a sentence or two but there none the less.
Now to start saving my pennies for the trip to the mother land!
Hope everyone's Holidays are Grrrrand and I'll drink a toast to Clan Thom(p)son on New Years Eve!
Slainte!
Your coz,
Sherry

Do you mean Hogmanay? Cough,cough

Someone forgot about me.
I joined the Clan Thompson Society last summer. My name is Barb Dusevoir and I live in Tigard, Oregon. I didn't know I was a Thompson until I was 37. My mother said her father deserted the Navy and changed his name to Richard Hill from Maurice L. Thompson. Ever since then, I've been searching for my Thompson family. It took 11 years to find them. Right before I joined the Clan, Cathy McTavish contacted me about a newly found cousin, John Thompson. His grandfather is my great grandfather. He was contacted by Linwood Charles Thompson because they share the same DNA.
Thanks to Cathy, I am a member today! :)
