Come celebrate Tartan Day in Olde Town Arvada Colorado. Historic McIlvoy Park will be the site. Lots of music and games and activities for young and old. Clan Thompson is one of the sponsoring clans and will have a tent there. In addition, Mulligan Stew featuring several Thompsons, will return as one of the musical acts.

Had a great time at Colorado Tartan Day. It was held in Olde Town Arvada Colorado, in a historic park which was donated to the city by a retired farm couple and has been used as a community resource for many years. There were lots of clans, Renaissance Scots, vendors, music, a whisky tasting (yes, I enjoyed that) and a concert by Angus Mohr, billed as a "Highland Rock and Roll" band. I've seen them before, but wasn't feeling too well in the evening, so my wife went, and watched our son take third place in the "Kitchen Piping" contest. He beat out two of his old teachers, who were also in the competition. Hope your Tartan Day was as enjoyable as ours.

Sounds like a nice event - and you son beat out his TEACHERS in piping? Well, it might not be "politic," but it had to FEEL GOOD ;D

So glad your Mulligan Stew made it and, of course, you were all kilted, right? That's a nice thing about the Thompson blue tartan - it's easy to know what clan you are looking at! There are so many red ones you get mind-boggled.

Any pictures???

Thanks for so ably representing us all once again.....

Mary

We were definitely kilted. I do like the Thompson blue. My son the piper is wearing the camel these days, as his mother bought him a kilt of that pattern for his birthday.

By the way, I was asked to arrange the music for Tartan Day 2012, and I have to mention, there will be Thompsons in two of the bands. Just a hint, make sure to attend this next year if you're in the area.
