Thompson in South Carolina
« on: December 12, 2008, 07:13:15 PM »
Hello,  I am a member of a large Thompson family in South Carolina.  We are descended from Harris Thompson, a landowner in Laurens County.  Harris had thirteen children many of whose descendants are still in this state, many others have moved to various part of our country.  Several of us have been trying to find documentation of Harris Thompson's entry into this country.  As far as we know, it can't be found locally. He married Lucinda Graydon, owned a prosperous farm and is buried in a local church cemetery.  If anyone knows of his origins, we would appreciate hearing from you.  Regards, Anita Thompson

Sorry - I don't have any Harris Thompsons in our line and ours were in PA.

Good luck with your search.....I know how frustrating it can be! We have a few brick walls of our own....

Hi Anita,

And welcome!  If I find any SC Thompsons as I work through cousins I will let you know.  Have you tried Ancestry.com at all?

Hi Anita,

Good luck in your hunt.  Like Mary, my familty came through Pennsyvania, thats why Tom & I are related, we just don't know who the common ancestor is.

Hello.

My name is Steve Thompson and I was born in W Va. My family came from Thompson Valley, Wythe Co, Va. I have traced them back to 1375 Dunbarton, Scotland.
While I have many SC relations, I do not have a Harris Thompson.
Still, you never know.

Later,
-Steve-
