Greetings! I'm a bit behind on posting this, but the Las Vegas Highland Games will be held on April 16 & 17 at Floyd Lamb State Park! I will be competing in my first solo bagpipe contest (I will be representing Clan Thom(p)son in dress blue tartan)! I will be competing in the 2/4 March, 6/8 March, Slow Air and Piobaireachd (I know, a bit ambitious for my first time. But, go big or go home! Right?)I'm very nervous, but also very excited! If you happen to be in the neighbourhood, then come and say hello!

Love the Ink. I only have the tree of life on my shoulder blade, but I may get one of the crest.

Celtic Croft Edinbugh, Scotland. Royal Mile.  They usually have good kilt makers at the larger highland games too.

MUSIC! / Queen of Argyll - Works great as Hard Rock and more stuff...

I probably have eight versions of the Queen of Argyll. Believe it or not, this song was written in the 1980's by Silly Wizard front man Andrew MacGregor "Andy" Stewart.  It was written with the intent of sounding like a folk sound and it does in the original arrangement.  The link that I have included is by far my favorite.  It was arranged and performed by Fiddler's Green.  The cool thing is though it has a lot of hard rock flavor, you can Scottish Country Dance to this song... maybe with a little more jive in your step?

Faod Reivers Marcaich A-rithist!   ;)

Thom(p)son DNA Project / Family Tree DNA Learning Center
« Last post by Mary on March 13, 2016, 07:55:02 AM »
If you've used the Family Tree DNA kit and are lost with what to do with the results....this might help!  https://www.familytreedna.com/learn/y-dna-snp-testing-haplogroups/

The Family Tree DNA testing gives more information than the Ancestry and interfaces more easily to find possible family matches. If you did yours through FTM, you should be able to upload your info to the http://www.ysearch.org/ website and find your possible matches. I'm not familiar with the BigY test, but those who have done 12,24,37,67, and 111 markers can upload their results. Once you do, you will be able to search by haplogroup, last name and (I think) geographic area.
