Super!  I THINK you are the first woman in the group to do a DNA test. VERY interesting. There are several sites you can post your info to once you get it. Keep us posted - Tom can help with some of the sites he's found if you don't know them.

I'm excited too!  :D

Hey y'all,
What will the female DNA test actually tell us?  I was under the impression that you had to be the son of a son of a son, etc.

The "Family Finder" autosomal DNA test is for men or women.  It is fairly new from Family Tree Dna.  The test helps you find family across all your lines (male, female, aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings), up to 6 generations back, by checking hundreds of thousands of points in your autosomal DNA, and comparing your results with others in the Family Finder database.

I'm excited but I'm trying not get my hopes up too much.   :)

This test will take about 6 weeks from the time I ordered the kit.

What's the cost on that if you don;t mind sharing? Private message it if you don't want it public. :)

The cost of the "Family Finder" is $289 + $4 shipping.  The Family Tree DNA might have a sale on their kits during the holidays.   :)

That's not bad, was expecting close to $1000 or so.
